1. What is the difference between a Table-of-Contents and a “Curriculum Map”?
> A table of contents structures the content in a linear step-by-step fashion. A Curriculum Map makes assumptions at a conceptual level about relations between concepts (links).
2. Can I change the Curriculum after the product is Live?
> There are three kinds of change which may arise after the product is Live:
(i) Change the display name of an existing concept – Superficial.
Example: “Pythagoras’ Theorem” > “The Theorem of Pythagoras”
This is a superficial change which does not affect the content of the concept, and can easily be made. Note: this may cause initial minor confusion for users.
(ii) Change the display name of an existing concept – Complex.
Example: “Pythagoras’ Theorem” > “Long Division”
Here you are making a change to the fundamental ideas that the concept covers. We cannot support changes of this kind after the product is LIVE unless a serious escalation occurs. We advise to wait until the current academic year is over.
(iii) Change the pre-requisite relationship of concepts.
Example: “A is a prerequisite of B” > “A is not a prerequisite of B”
Here you are making a change to the fundamental learning paths of students. We cannot support changes of this kind after the product is LIVE unless a serious escalation occurs. We advise to wait until the current academic year is over.
3. Can I add content incrementally to the Curriculum?
> Yes, you can add content to the product after it is Live, and of course improve existing content. However we recommend, wherever possible, that All content is delivered in time for back-to-school and it is not changed radically during the academic year.
